Remote within the US -Digital Channels- Social Media Intern

Summer 2024

World Vision Internships provide a three-month opportunity for exceptional students and recent graduates ready to explore a career in the international relief and development sector. We are committed to providing interns with a meaningful learning experience where they can learn, grow, and connect alongside other emerging professionals who are passionate about our mission.

BEFORE APPLYING, make sure you meet the following requirements:

  • Able to commit to a minimum of 24 hours per week for the entire internship period: 20 May – 16 August. 
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must have a valid US Social Security Number.
  • Be physically located in one of the following states where WVI is registered as an employer: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia (Washington D.C.), Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington.
  • Current student or recent graduate from an undergraduate or graduate programme (within 2 years).
  • Adhere to World Vision International’s Christian Statement of Faith.
  • Willingness to use own electronic devices for internship purposes, and disposition to let WVI install endpoint security software on those devices.

DETAILS

  • Stipend: All US-based interns are paid a monthly stipend of $800
  • Hours: Full-time and part-time opportunities are available (24-40 hours/week)
  • Internship Location: Remote within the US (see eligible states above).
  • Appropriate Fields of Study/Majors: Journalism, Public Relations, English, Photography, Videography, Graphic Design, or related field.

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION

The public engagement team has the exciting and rewarding job of telling World Vision's story across digital (web and social) channels. We are bridge builders. We use these outlets to raise awareness of the heart-breaking needs of the world's most vulnerable children and show how our experienced and dedicated teams around the world are helping to meet their needs through sustainable relief and community-development work.

The Opportunity:

As a Digital Channels Social Media Intern, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Learn how World Vision communicates to demonstrate the positive impact of our ministry and inspire others to join us in bringing fullness of life to children around the world.
  • Develop skills in critical thinking and in raising awareness of relevant issues, influencing public opinion and policies, and mobilising the organisation.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with the day-to-day management of World Vision’s social channels.
  • Create content and social media assets to supplement marketing campaigns.
  • Track social media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns for scalability
  • Optimize evergreen social media content that helps tell the World Vision story, for different channels/audiences.

Essential qualities for this role:

  • You enjoy spending time on social media across multiple platforms.
  • You are quick and creative to jump on social media trends and adapt to their ever-changing landscape.
  • You have writing and editing experience in English.
  • You are well-versed in graphic design, photography, and video creation.
  • You are passionate about using your God-given talents to positively impact the world.
