To learn what it’s like to work at ASCO, click here. Who we are looking for: ASCO is seeking an intern to join our Volunteer Program team. The intern will gain valuable experience and insight in managing a volunteer program for a nonprofit organization. This internship is designed to enhance ASCO's volunteer program by improving resources for internal stakeholders, maintaining volunteer records, and enhancing volunteer recruitment and recognition. Apply now and join our team!Internship activities include: * Developing resources for internal stakeholders to maximize value of ASCO’s Volunteer Pool. * Assist with keeping ASCO Volunteer Database up to date and accurate. * Review ASCO volunteer policies and procedures and develop new resources for internal stakeholders and ASCO volunteers. * Review Volunteer Application and onboarding resources and provide recommendations to improve user experience. * Create a Volunteer Frequently Asked Question Guide to assist volunteers with resolving issues. * Assist with developing presentations for staff meetings and volunteer liaison meetings. * Develop marketing campaigns to recruit new volunteers and improve volunteer recognition. * Develop the framework for a new volunteer opportunity to engage international volunteers. Required qualifications: * Currently enrolled in an undergraduate BA/BS degree program, or graduate program, or recently graduated from a 4-year degree program. Candidates must be at least a junior or entering their junior year of college at the start of the internship. * Experience using Microsoft Office tools, SurveyMonkey, SmartSheet, Adobe Acrobat, and Zoom * Strong interpersonal and communication skills * Professionalism * Solid organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet established deadlines, and impeccable attention to detail * Proficient written and oral communication skills * Proficient interpersonal skills * Ability to work with indirect supervision while being motivated and a self-starter * Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with flexibility to adapt to changing needs * Excellent customer service skills and professionalism * Willingness to enhance skills Duration: 10 weeks during the summer – June 10, 2024, to August 16, 2024. This internship is 37.5 hours per week.   Compensation: This summer internship position is paid. Additionally, ASCO will provide parking or a metro subsidy to the successful candidate.  Location: This internship is based in Alexandria, VA and will require working onsite. Candidates should reside in the D.C. metro area or be able to relocate at their own expense.
