conducted using United States information resources only (e.g., FBI fingerprint
check, state and county checks). A criminal background check involves a 5-year
inquiry for any location where the individual has resided, worked or gone to
school within the United States or its territories. As a result of this
limitation, the criminal background checks of individuals who have not resided
in the United States or its territories for the preceding 5-years may not be
considered complete. The Inspection Service may be able to process inquiries for
U.S. Citizens only, but only if their time spent out of the country was spent
as: a trailing spouse or dependent of someone working for the U.S. government
(military or civilian), a missionary, a student attending school in a foreign
country, a Peace Corps participant, or as an employee of a U.S.-based
employer/company. If the Inspection Service is unable to perform a complete
background check because of residency outside the United States, such
individuals will be ineligible for Postal employment. Functional Purpose
Information / Technology Interns will apply their knowledge and understanding of
related principles and practices gained from their program of study to support
the information systems needs of the USPS. Depending upon assignment, projects
will include opportunities regarding applications and/or software development
and engineering, or information systems. PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible for
this program all applicants must have earned at least 48 credit hours towards a
bachelors degree, and be currently enrolled in either a bachelors or graduate
degree program with a college or university accredited by a national or regional
accreditation organization recognized and sanctioned by the U.S. Department of
Education. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Applies information and/or technology
principles, practices, project management principles and methodologies to
deliver prototypes, roadmap solutions and concise documentation. 2. Collaborates
with team members using latest software development and design practices,
programming languages, Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI/ML)
techniques and models to support the development of innovative project concepts
and/or create services to address technical debt in legacy systems. 3. Utilizes
analytical tools including AI/ML techniques for identifying patterns and
developing predictive models. Utilizes and combines data from multiple sources
to analyze and outline trends and show correlations and identify metrics
associated with IT systems. Collaborates to provide recommendations from the
data. 4. Conducts research related to technology applications, practices,
standards and state-of-the-art Information Systems technologies and synthesizes
this information into concise and effective reporting 5. Collaborates and
provides information and support on multi-functional team activities, special
projects and management studies within a specialized program area or area of

Intelligence, Automated Testing and Agile. 5. EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Enrolled in
a Bachelor's or Master's degree program with at least 48 earned credit hours
towards a bachelors degree in one of the following fields: Computer Science,
Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Science, or a related
field to one specified above from an accredited college or university by a
national or regional accreditation organization recognized and sanctioned by the
U.S. Department of Education. **This position requires a NACI clearance. This
